DUKANEXT
DukaNext is a powerful SaaS eCommerce system designed to help small and medium-sized businesses in Kenya create, manage, and scale their online stores. The platform enables retailers and wholesalers to go digital with ease offering storefront creation, inventory control, and customer management from one seamless interface.
The challenge
DukaNext needed a full-stack SaaS solution that would serve as a scalable multi-tenant eCommerce platform. The system had to support onboarding of new merchants, store customization, inventory and order management, secure payment integrations and dynamic subdomains. Key goals included high performance, flexibility, strong UX for non-technical users, and infrastructure capable of supporting rapid growth across Kenya and beyond.
The solution
I developed the DukaNext platform using the MERN stack, where I used React and Next.js on the frontend to deliver a fast, responsive, and dynamic user experience. I built the backend with Node.js and MongoDB, allowing for scalable, flexible data management across multiple users and stores. The architecture was designed for multi-tenancy and included features like secure user authentication, real-time order tracking, store analytics, and integrations with third-party services such as payment gateways and delivery APIs. Throughout the build, I focused on performance, security, and scalability to ensure the platform could handle growth while remaining efficient and easy to maintain.
I also configured and deployed the project on Digital Ocean wher eI setup CI/CD pipelines for updates.
